Fauna & Flora in Georgioupolis Chania Crete
In the region are met roughly 400 species of plants. Characteristically they are the wickers, the prinos, the pikrodafni, the myrties, the Cretan kyklamino, the aquatic and hydric plants of rivers and lake as potamogeitonas (potamogeton pectinatus) and ammophilous, as the sensitive krinaki of sand that embelishes the immense seaside. Unique however, perhaps all around Crete, is the aria's forest (type dry) that its local name is azilakas.
An old forest, that is offered for walks in all the seasons of time. Many of these regions are protected ecotopes and have been proposed for integration in the environmental network "Nature of 2000" of the European Union.
